We are about to embark on a journey through the Sermon on the Mount.  Some have said this is the greatest sermon ever preached.   I suppose that may be true since it is Jesus sermon that He preached.

However, the truth is, sermons come and sermons go and they have some impact in our lives.  I still remember the sermon preached by Rev. Bill Crane on August 5th, 1985, about the divine call of God on King 'David's' life.   Of course it seemed every time he said 'David' he was speaking directly to me.  He wasn't, but God was and that sermon obviously had an impact on my life because I answered God's call on my life to preach the Gospel.

What is most impactful though, is not so much the sermon that day, but all that had happened in my life up to that point.  What happened was I had godly parents, Sunday School teachers, mentors in my life from church who had lived out their faith in convincing, winsome, and powerful ways that put me in the place I could hear God's voice that July day in 1985.

Jesus sermon from Matthew 5-7 is obviously a sermon, but what gives Jesus' sermon its impact is not so much the fact that Jesus spoke it, but that he lived it.   So I would rather call this the greatest sermon ever lived instead of the greatest sermon ever preached.    HOW you live preaches so much louder than how you speak.   Jesus says as much in these 3 powerful chapters in Matthew.

Go with us for the next two months into this "Kingdom Culture" journey.  It will have sermons with words, and bible studies with words.  However, don't just soak up words, let Christ so permeate you through this journey, you incarnate Him, you missionate Him, and your life's impact will preach louder than any sermon.   That's how we roll in the Kingdom!
