Here we are about to start the last month of the fiscal church year. By most standards it appears this will be another year of statistical growth. All the statistics will begin to be totaled, and we will begin writing reports that will go into our local annual reports from every department, reports that will be given at the annual church meeting, and that will be given to the district and the general church.
Why do we do this? We should just do the work that God calls us to do and let the chips fall where they will...right???
Well, we should do the work we are called to do and the chips will fall where they are going to fall, however, that does not mean we don't have to be accountable. That accountability is first of all to God, and it is also to His Great Command and His Great Commission. Have we made disciples, have we loved the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and our neighbor as ourselves? Have we matured in our spiritual journey as an individual, and as a body of believers? Have we grown into more of the fullness of faith? Specifically, how many have you witnessed to this year, lead to Jesus Christ this year, how many have we seen go deeper in their walk and make Jesus not just their Savior but the LORD of their lives? Have we reproduced ourselves, personally been discipled or personally discipled others? Have we as Lenoir City First Church of the Nazarene become pregnant or given birth to (a) new church(es)? Now it starts to get personal doesn't it...
The answer to these missional questions must be answered because the answers tell us if we are a healthy believer, or a healthy church. The answers are found in the fruit that our lives and the church has born this past church year and in the vision/strategy/plan to make disciples and love God with all our heart and our neighbor as ourselves. We will tell His story of His mighty works in this last year, we will personally, corporately, and honestly give an account to the Lord, and to each other.
